PETITION FOR CSM PREREQUISITE COURSE EQUIVALENCY

Most CSM courses with prerequisites and co-requisites are subject to computerized checking. With computerized prerequisite checking, the WebSMART enrollment program examines your SMCCCD academic history to determine whether or not you have satisfied the prerequisite established for the course[s] you wish to enroll. You can satisfy a course prerequisite in the following ways:

  • Placement test results, from testing completed within the last 24 months, that meet prerequisite skill level requirements OR
  • Successful completion (i.e., grade of “C” or higher) of the prerequisite course within the SMCCCD, OR
  • Current enrollment within the SMCCCD in the prerequisite course.


    • If one of these attributes is NOT located, you experience a BLOCK when you attempt to register for the course, and a note indicating “Prerequisite Missing”.

    If you believe that you have completed an equivalent prerequisite course with a grade "C" or higher at an accredited college or university outside of the San Mateo County Community College District, do the following:
    1. Complete the online PREREQUISITE EQUIVALENCY FORM for EACH COURSE in which you seek equivalency review.
      AND

    2. Submit an unofficial transcript AND catalog course description. You can submit these documents in any of the following ways:

    You will be notified by phone or email of the outcome of your request.

    Incomplete submissions will not be processed.

    PLEASE NOTE! This form is a review for prerequisite equivalency only and used to lift enrollment blocks when attempting to enroll in classes in WebSMART.
